Posted on Saturday, October 20, 2012 | Category Member NewsA U. S. - Ireland Legal Symposium was held in Philadelphia on October
11-12. John J. O'Malley, a Society member and partner at the law firm of Volpe
& Koenig, was actively involved in this event which was addressed by the Irish
Prime Minister Kenny.
O'Malley stated the following to an Inquirer reporter:
The Irish "are trying to be the gateway of Europe"
for U.S. business, said John J. O'Malley, partner at
Philadelphia-based intellectual property lawyers
Volpe & Koenig, a sponsor of a two-day U.S.-Ireland
Symposium, which scheduled the breakfast into its
program.
"The Irish have focused on building ties in New York
and Silicon Valley. We're trying to bring them more
into Philadelphia," said O'Malley, whose firm's clients
include drug maker Novartis, Malvern-based electronics
maker Vishay Intertechnology, and Bethlehem-based
Flexicon Corp.
Also assisting in this on-going effort to help both the American and Irish
economies in Philadelphia was Bernard Buckley, the Society's Vice President.
The foregoing is indicative of the considerable legal and economic
influence of our Society's members in the Philadelphia economy.
